The Triad of Now: Reprogramming Presence in a World on Autopilot

Our mind isn’t enemy of presence—it’s simply trained to forget.

Through evolution, we’ve inherited a powerful gift: the ability to function on autopilot to facilitate our own survival and the survival of the species. In esoteric circles its called the “animal mind” It’s this subconscious system that allows us to brush our teeth while thinking about dinner, drive home without remembering the road, and sip our coffee while scrolling through endless to-dos.

It’s a survival mechanism. Efficient. Ingrained. Necessary.

But if we want more than survival—if we seek transcendence, awakening, or simply a richer experience of being alive—we have to reclaim something we’ve lost:

The moment we’re actually in. The Now.

Let me introduce to you a simple, practical method you can start today to reclaim your conscious awareness. Through it, you will train your mind to subconsciously prompt you back into the present moment through repetition.

The Triad of Now is a daily practice—gentle, repeatable, and quietly revolutionary.

It’s not about fighting the subconscious. It’s about retraining it. Repatterning it. Teaching it to reach for presence the way it reaches for breath. We do that not through force, but through simple, intentional acts.

Here’s how:

1. The Sip – Taste the Moment

Each time you take your first sip of a beverage, pause. Feel the cup in your hands. Smell the scent of the drink within. Notice the warmth—or the chill—of the liquid passing over your lips, tongue and throat.

It is not a task. It is an invitation to be here. To notice.

In this tiny act, you will find yourself shifting from mental chatter to embodied awareness, training the mind to slow down, and teaching the body to feel.

2. The Threshold – Cross with Awareness

Every time you walk through a doorway or threshold, stop for a moment.

Feel your feet. Notice your posture. Observe the light in the room, the temperature of the air, the movement of sound. Ask yourself—How does my body feel right now?

Let the threshold becomes more than architecture. Allow it to become a portal to awareness.

3. The Talisman – The Touch That Brings Us Back

Place a small item in your pocket. It could be a pebble, a coin, a bead, a shell.

Throughout the day, whenever you notice it, place your attention there, imagining what it looks like, there, in your pocket.

You may decide to take it out, turn it in your fingers, and study its shape. Or you might simply feel its weight and whisper inwardly: Here I am. I see you.

The physical object then becomes a bridge, linking the outer world with the inner, the unconscious with the awakened.

Why This Works

At first, it may feel awkward. You may forget and go half the day before remembering. But like any muscle, presence strengthens with use.

We aren’t trying to achieve perfection. We’re building a relationship—with the Now. And each time we show up, we find the moment greets us like an old friend.

Over time, our subconscious will begin to shift. The sip, the step, the touch—they’ll become sacred. Familiar. Natural.

Presence will no longer be something we chase—it will be something we live in.

It is also perfectly fine to start with just one of the three. You can try just the Sip, until it’s mastered and add the next, or just focus on the one that comes most naturally.

Try It With Us

Try the Triad of Now for just one day.

Let your sip be sacred.
Let your steps be aware.
Let your pocket carry the weight of remembering.

At the end of the day, try to recall the times you became aware in the moment. Picture the room you were in. The life you lived in that moment.

Let’s anchor together, in the only time and place that truly exists:

The Here and Now.
